As you may have already seen on our news page here, or on our social media pages, we have a new staff member! Sheleagh replaces Alison as a regular Saturday staff member and we are very excited that she has joined our team!
We thought you might like to get to know Sheleagh a bit more so we put a few questions to her!
Hello Sheleagh, we know that you have long been a customer of Fair Do’s before applying for the job here, what’s one of your favourite things you’ve bought from the shop?
I love my moonstone earrings – they go with everything! I wear them all the time and they always get noticed and complimented.
Tell us a little bit about your background.
I’ve previously worked in the third sector for 30 years as a fundraiser, project manager and working on community development. I have visited Sudan and helped set up a Wales-Africa link with Internally Displaced People (IDP)
If you could visit any country in the world, which would you choose?
I’ve got my eye on Iceland to experience the lights. I’d also like to visit Greece as it is beautiful, and I’d like to put money into the Greek economy.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I sing in a choir, I love cooking and playing the accordion. I also love walks in the woods and along the coast.
How have you found your time at Fair Do’s so far and what are you looking forward to about working here?
I have really enjoyed learning the ropes in the shop so far. I was asked to write a funding bid and this got me thinking about the exciting potential to promote Wales as a fair trade nation and be part of something that really makes a difference to people’s livelihoods in Africa and elsewhere. I am also very much looking forward to doing my Christmas shopping at Fair Do’s and of course – lots of delicious Guatemalan coffee, fairtrade chocolate, and chilli & lime Liberation nuts!
We hope you’ve enjoyed this little insight into our new staff member’s life (and a nice little advertising pitch at the end there, she’s learning quickly!!) Do pop into the shop soon and say hello to her!
