International Women’s Day will be celebrated this Sunday, 8th March.
To mark the occasion, we’ve gathered together a few of the fair trade products we sell which are made exclusively by women. Have a look below to see some of the beautiful and ethical items produced by women’s co-operatives, who give an amazing lifeline to women in rural and poor areas.
This delicious ground coffee is grown exclusively by women in Uganda
Bangles for Africa – These bracelets are made by women from the Fulani tribe in Burkina Faso. They are made from old prayer mats woven into beautiful designs. The same group also make the Buttons for Africa button hearts that we sell at Fair Do’s.
We have lots of beautiful beads also made by women in Burkina Faso. Necklace and earring sets are priced at just £18 and come in a colourful fabric bag.
This unique jewellery roll from Sari Bari is made from a sari and marked with the name of the woman who made it.
A new supplier to Fair Do’s, Vikapu Bomba is a social business of previously unemployed rural women who produce these beautiful handmade baskets in Tanzania. Each basket bears the name of the woman who made it, along with some information about her life and work.
We hope you’ll enjoy celebrating some of the wonderful women in your life tomorrow, and perhaps consider coming to Fair Do’s to support some of the hardworking women who are represented in our products!
